Haima Carpet Sustainability Plan

General:

    1. Why do we have this strategy?

    At Haima carpet, we all know sustainability is important, it is a challenge we must meet. Globally, we are facing with many challenges that at Haima carpet we cannot ignore, from the devastating effects that are already being and will continue to be felt by climate crisis, environment pollution, water pollution, energy waste, unethical labor standards in supply chains and inequality among employees etc.
    We are engaged our people on what they think we can do to improve as a manufacturer and supplier of carpet throughout all countries of sustainability. Similarly, we have engaged distributors, end users, workers, sales team and especially research and development technicians at Haima carpet.
    We realize this is a team efforts and we cannot reach the goals set out in this strategy without the efforts of everyone working for Haima carpet.

  2. (1)Be a manufacturer and supplier of carpet that enables our customers to live more sustainable lives
  3. (2)Be a manufacturer and supplier of carpet that works with ethical suppliers and distributors who hold the same values with Haima Carpet.
  4. (3)Be a manufacturer and supplier of carpet withNet Zero carbon business.
  5. (4)Be a manufacturer and supplier of carpet that provides safe, healthy workplaces that promote a healthy work/life balance.
  6. (5)Be a manufacturer and supplier of carpet as a community partner that provides value through helping people to improve their living environment.
  1. 3.United Nations Sustainability Development Goals
  2. The Sustainability Development Goals were created by the United Nations ( UN ) in the year of 2015 as a call to action for all companies. Together, the goals address the global sustainability challenges as well. Haima Carpet is guided by the UN Sustainability Development Goals, as they make up the foundation of our plan.
    The 17 goals set up by UN as (1) No poverty (2) Zero Hunger (3) Good health and well-being (4) Quality Education (5) Gender Equality (6) Clean water and sanitation (7) Affordable and clean energy (8) Decent work and economic growth (9) Industry, innovation and infrastructure (10) Reduced inequalities (11) Sustainable cities and communities (12) Responsible consumption and production (13)Climate action (14)Life below water (15) Life on land (16) Peace, justice and strong institutions (17) Partnerships for the goals.
    We realized that all of these 17 goals are interconnected and as we aim to improve Haima carpet together. We will keep the SDGs as a foundation for our any future plans.

     

  1. 4.Our Sustainability Plan actions
    1. (4-1) To our customers£¬we want to provide our customers with sustainable disposal solutions for all of our carpet users. We are trying to build up a long term cooperation partnership with some specialized recycler of carpet who could assist to remove the old carpet and take them away properly to be treated for example tear the carpets to be used as fertilizer or to collect the yarns and re-produce into fibric for clothing production or fillers of bed mattress etc.So the carpets recycled can be given a new life, none of these materials go to waste field but to be recovered and sent to energy from waste.
    1. (4-2) Toour suppliers and distributors, nylon carpet is produced by a recyclable chips that originally generated from natural oils, all the dye staff are environmentally friendly materials, we will enhance our governance processes across our supply chain and having a traceable procedure to supervise our suppliers and distributors.
    1. (4-3) As a manufacturer aim to net zero carbon business, Haima aim to reduce water pollution and carbon generation by using good materials and a high technology water treatment system.
    1. (4-4)To our employees, Haima keep trying all the best to provides safe, healthy and green workplaces with a garden like factory, the trees and flowers covers up to 18% of the land in Haima industrial park. Workers are offered labor protection tools and having every holiday based on national regulations. Haima creates a safe workplace with 0 incident rate, all components chemicals and activities are assessed for risks and have available protection actions. Appropriate and frequent training to meet management regulations, duty of care ect. Review and audit are carried out each year to meet ISO18001 and ISO14001. Holidays are offered and people are allowed to have a flexible working hours.
    1. (4-5) As a community partner that provides value through helping people to improve their living environment, Haima continuously increase the salary for employees, and donate to red cross organizations and offer subsidize to workers with low incomes. Haima provides accommodation for workers who could live inside of the industrial park.

Harmony of human beings and nature has been a philosophy of Haima Carpet for more than 70 years in protecting the planet and providing a long term continuously improved living environment, a sustainable future for the generations that follow.
Our focused sustainability goal are five key targets to be accomplished by 2028.

  1. 1. 30% reduction in carbon emissions.
  2. 2. 15% reduction in energy consumption per sqm output of carpet.
  3. 3. 20% reduction in waste of materials in production process
  4. 4. 5% reduction in packing with plastic or wood materials
  5. 5. 5% reduction in water consumption

Striving for these goals are part of our long term objectives of becoming a Net Zero manufacturer of carpet.
